Connor McDermott vs Percy Austin (Wrestle Studs)
Great match - a throwback to the intensity of old-school wrestling, where the whole point was pain - taking it and giving it. I love Wrestle Studs for preserving the best characteristics of 1950s pro wrestling, its savagery and its utter lack of sympathy. Equally important to the mix is its targeting of flesh - sniffing out an opponent's weaknesses and zeroing in on them. Percy and Connor endure agony and hurl it back at each other.
Pretty-boy Percy bites Connor's knee and pantomimes spitting a chunk of it out. This is the zone of unforgiveness. It comes as a surprise because, except for the many tattoos, Percy is the boy next door, the good guy presumably. Both wrestlers amplify the pain they imitate. I would cheer for Percy more, but it's McDermott that mostly turns me on. His peroxide hair improves on the hair styles of Gorgeous George and Dolph Ziggler. He's vengeful, a master of payback and rage. Totally HOT.
