Rolfed

Sweat drew me to this match, and sweat is what I'll remember it by. Well built, though on a 5'7" frame, Christian Thorn is overwhelmed by his competition, two men who are both over six feet tall. The setup goes against convention, as the online match description explains:

In the world of wrestling, the typical handicap match pits two smaller jobbers against one vicious heel. The heel enjoys toying with his jobbers, beating them down, inflicting punishment, and ultimately destroying them. That is not the way this match goes.

Instead, 6'3" Ducati sics his 6'1" protege Rolf on the small but feisty Christian but can't resist getting his hands all over the little guy, too. Rolf pounces on Christian immediately, without waiting for a formal introduction. Along with the volumes of sweat, Rolf is a big draw, too, though I like all three guys. Rolf is a vexing mystery, an against-type heel if ever there was one. He's well built but not strikingly well muscled, certainly not menacing. As heels go, he is exceptionally cheery.

In the past I have tried to explain my interest in Rolf, claiming it's because he likes to fight, because he does not operate according to the usual laws of physics or the conventions of ring combat, and, most recently, because he likes to hurt people. His hard-to-define allure also has something to do with his gangling puppy-dog energy. Altogether, these are not compatible traits, seemingly, and the last contradicts the commonly understood sense of the word heel, so it must be that the originality of his ring style is a large part of what I like about him.
