Automatic Reflexes

Josh Bodom vs Chris Tyler, Lucha Forever Lucha Live #4: Live and Let Dive (Lucha Forever)

UK-based Lucha Forever shut down at the end of one year, 2017, but not before staging some fantastic matches with extraordinary ring stars. Some say the promotion failed because of its own high aspirations, along with some mismanagement and bad luck. Its focus was fancy footwork and over-the-top-rope dives, not my favorite form of pro wrestling, but this match from the summer of 2017 caught fire beyond its choreography, thanks to two young gods of British wrestling.

The match begins with the familiar heel trick-handshake, some too obviously mapped-out moves,  and a spectacular suicide dive. It gets interesting to me around the 02:00 mark when Chris Tyler latches a headlock onto beefy Josh Bodom and bends him down to the mat (1st GIF). Frankly, I would have liked a lot more mat wrestling, but second to prolonged body contact, I love kicks, punches, and slams, which this match features in abundance, with just about an even trade between these roughnecks till the final minute of the contest. Both these lads know how to take a bump. GIFs 3, 5, and 6 exhibit expert sells of kicks to the jaws, a form of attack I like because the receiver usually bends back in response, presenting the crowd and camera a clear view of the upper body. The boot to Tyler's midsection in the 7th GIF could not be sold more perfectly.

Tyler's brooding handsomeness perfectly sets off Bodom's carnivorous fight-face. The pair execute the near pins and acrobatic stunts perfectly, even though they are, like the opening shots, choreographed. Their success depends equally on the wrestlers' timing and ability to convincingly fake what in actuality would be an automatic reflex.

  1. I enjoy these GIFs more than most because both wrestlers get a chance to shine. And thei both hot with arousing bodies.

    Thanks!
