Enough Rope

Kayden Keller vs Chase Addams, Learning the Ropes the Hard Way! (BG East)

I like Chase Addams's silky degenerate style. His moody coolness derives from his cold-bloodedness. He doesn't disguise the fact that wrestling attracts him for the opportunities it presents to hurt people. Kayden Keller, the bigger and more experienced of the two, likes hurting people, too, in contrast to his straight-arrow looks. He doesn't look like a bad guy except when he's on a wrestling mat or in a ring, but he has a keen competitive edge. He likes to win, and hurting opponents is a perk of winning.

Both men are tall - six feet and six feet two, respectively - of similar build, with only five pounds difference in weight. The matchup is close to perfect. Chase tightens the noose around his wrist while dead-staring Kayden in the eyes. Both men want this fight. "There's no way out now," Kayden announces in low tones and launches an attack that slams Chase on his back. He follows with a vertical suplex to make sure Addams's vertebrae feel it. He then pummels Chase against the turnbuckle. When he tries for another suplex, though, Chase reverses it.

Kayden favors big dramatic gestures, neck- and back-breakers and generous use of the full ring, especially the ring ropes. Chase uses the rope that binds them to hold Kayden in place, preferring the smaller, more intricate tortures like arm- and body-locks that let him twist Keller's body into enervating pretzels, unable to defend itself from Chase's punches.

Addams looks like the snotty bad-ass you wish somebody would beat up, and Keller looks like the short-tempered hulk you would like to do the dirty work. This 32-minute death match brims with savage ingenuity and nonstop agony. It's unpredictable until the last 9 minutes, when Fate reveals its hand, and we see the victor inflict irremediable damage upon the loser.
