Squashing Ryan's Privates

Scrappy McNair vs Marcus Ryan, Catalog 26 - Muscleboy Beat Down (MuscleBoy Wrestling)

Scrappy gives fans boners that have aftershocks. The effect is sharpest when he is wrestling, especially when he is in total control of the match, as he is here against lightweight hottie Marcus Ryan. Scrappy posing or yakking is nothing compared to Scrappy kicking ass. Through my first viewing of this match, I feared that a phoney-baloney hope spot would break the spell, but luckily Scrappy gives Marcus barely enough space to breathe, much less turn the fight around..

I like Marcus quite a bit, too, but nothing pleases me more than watching Scrappy beat the shit out of the kid. Scrappy does it with joyous malice. It's thrilling. It's the small touches Scrappy throws into a match that distinguish it from most underground wrestling - the callous shove after choking Marcus on the top rope, his pelvic-thrust take on the camel clutch, and the frozen grin on his face as he uses Marcus's arm to choke Marcus out.

Thunders Arena brought Scrappy into the underground scene, and Wrestler4Hire and especially MuscleBoy honed him into the star he is today. Scrappy has become MuscleBoy's Muscle Boy, an inspiration after the fact.

  1. Couldn't agree with you more about this match and about your overall and on-going comments about Scrappy. The eyes are immediately drawn to Scrappy because he is the focus of the action and Ryan basically a rag doll. But Scrappy's intensity and moves make it great viewing.

If you haven't seen it (you seem to see everything) I would recommend the latest Christian Thorn/Scrappy match under the Hero's section of W4H. Like you I'm no particular fan of Hero encounters, but this one is special. Their bodies go together like hand in glove. They know how to complement each other's moves. This is a follow-up to an earlier Hero match pre Cameron on W4H. It prompted me to revisit some of the those other matches that between Scrappy and Christian. They are to be cherished. This one sets up a "rubber" match and I hope that comes true.

  2. One of the boner aftershocks occurred when Scrappy executed a triple backbreaker with such authority! It reminded me of Paul Roma many years ago, who 's signature move was a triple backbreaker with boner aftershocks!
