Squaring Off

Steve and Ezio show off their muscle and prowess to each other in the great outdoors, apparently a city park, but they follow up, at Steve's insistence, in the Hunkswrestling mat room. Mat grappling leads to sparring briefly; then the two move on to more mat grappling. Well-played holds eventually wear both wrestlers down, and we get long, tight, but decreasingly convincing holds and attacks that nevertheless work as sex appeal. In the match's final third, Ezio has whipped Steve; all that remains is to put Steve out of his misery, but Steve, being the determined comeback kid that he is, thrusts himself back into the fight.

This is my favorite of the Hunkswrestling matches I've seen. I have not seen them all, though. Luca is an interesting find - impressively well built and possessing a Grigori Rasputin vibe - the 2004 Hellboy version. He's game enough to step on the mat with Mason and keep up with him, but in the last half, he loses steam, more in his sells, even in his attacks. At the beginning of the mat work, Mason looks more relaxed and self-assured than I remember from his previous videos. It is his home turf, after all, so that's to be expected. He carries the match, even when disabled. He's the scrappier of the two, too, but again and again Luca rises up and knocks him down.
